Report: Pac-10 officials visited UT, A&M before ultimatum was given

On Friday, Big 12 presidents reportedly gave an ultimatum to both Nebraska and Missouri: decide by Friday, June 11, what your intentions are and whether you are going to stay in the Big 12 or go pursue other conference options.

Apparently, the other ten schools were looking for some type of declaration of loyalty.  Also just as apparently, loyalty is not a two-way street in the Big 12.

According to a report in the Omaha World-Herald, and citing a source from an unnamed Big 12 school, representatives from the Pac-10 visited both Texas and Texas A&M two weeks ago.  Before the deadline for expressing loyalty to the Big 12 was given to Nebraska and Missouri.

Is it any wonder why the Big 12 is seemingly falling apart and crumbling right before our very eyes?

Amazing that other schools would seek declarations of loyalty from two schools rumored to be infatuated with the Big Ten, while at least two other member institutions have been looking up the skirt of another conference.

Again, given how the past few days have unfolded, it’s amazing that the fractured league has lasted as long as it has.

I believe this whole bruhaha is more of fascination and fabrication of CFT than what is actually happening.

I think this has a lot of actuality but I can not think why the Pac-10 is so interested. Texas is a good fit, but A&M seems to gravitate to the SEC in their scheduling. The bonus of A&M is they are located in the Houston market, which is a the top 10 television market.

Dan Beebe reminds me of a tool I had once that wasn’t good for anything but it kept telling me “Hey, if you keep me around some day you might use me when you’re making something totally useful. And if you throw me in the garbage, I’ll be totally mad at you.”
I had no idea why a tool was talking to me so I ignored its empty threats and tossed it in the garbage. I’ve never needed that tool so I haven’t missed it one bit.
It’s time Nebraska follows suit and shows that tool the trash can.

The league isn’t really fractured, just extremely ripe for the picking and vulnerable to poaching. It is located at the intersection of every major conference except for the Big East and ACC, so anytime the Pac-10, Big Ten, or SEC wants to expand with current BCS-level teams, the Big 12 is the obvious well from which to try to draw. And considering college sports’ ultimate cash bull, Texas, as well as a few other prime programs (OU, aggie, etc.) are in that conference, any discussion of forming a superconference is probably going to involve knocking over the first domino in the collapse of the Big 12.
