Rockies take another starting ACC QB in MLB draft

One thing’s for certain -- the Colorado Rockies love them some ACC quarterbacks this year.

The major league baseball organization -- the same one that drafted former Tennessee QB Todd Helton in 1995 -- used the 26th pick of the draft Monday night on Clemson’s Kyle Parker.

This afternoon, they doubled up on conference signal callers.

According to MLB.com‘s official draft tracker, North Carolina State starter Russell Wilson was taken in the fourth round by the club, the 140th player overall.

Unlike his counterpart at Clemson, however, head coach Tom O’Brien seemingly doesn’t have to worry about losing his starter to baseball.

“Russell’s coming back, so I don’t know why there’s ever any question,” O’Brien told the Raleigh News & Observer back in the middle of April. “He said it again this week that he’s coming back, so write it down. He’s coming back. ...

“He’s told me 100 times [that he’s coming back]. I don’t know what he’s telling you guys.”
