Texas legislator warns of 'would not be wise' decisions

The Big 12 may be going down in a smoldering heap but, apparently, the state of Texas has laid claim to declaring the conference body DOA.  Or resuscitating it.  Or flexing their pecs as they head out of the funeral.

To be honest, we couldn’t care less about the state of Texas and their politics.  But, that state’s legislative body and their media-friendly mouthpieces are doing their best to put themselves into the very middle and forefront of this expansion situation; and they are apparently succeeding as they’ve sucked in‘s Joe Schad and, now,‘s Andy Staples.

A quote from State Rep. Dan Branch graciously offered up by Staples, apparently regarding the regent meetings of current Big 12 schools scheduled for early this week, tells all there is to tell.

“To make a final decision before Wednesday,” Branch said, “would not be wise.”

Buyer beware being affiliated with any of these Texas schools.  Especially the Austin-based one.

Yes, apparently everyone else in the Big 12 needs to wait until UT makes its decision public, so that all of the sports reporters and journalists will wisely say that everyone else that goes to the Pac 10 was simply holding onto UT’s coattails the whole way. Do these people even realize that they don’t regulate schools outside of Texas. First some of them say the Pac 10 needs to pass on Colorado (which the Pac 10 wanted) and take Baylor instead (which the Pac 10 had no desire to add whatsover), and now everyone is supposed to wait around until UT makes its announcement. Please, we all know they’re going to the Pac 10. Get over yourselves you small time politicians.

It is amazing how arrogant Texas is, evan as their world is crumbling around them, mostly the result of their own decisions.

This quote was from a “State Representative”! Are you kidding me! Do those people even get paid?
We should just throw all blow-hard politicians in a bag, throw them over a clothes line, and beat them like a dirty rug. They’re a waste of oxygen.

I’m glad to see the arrogance of Texas being recognized on a national level. They are like a spoiled 3 year old who throws a tantrum every time they don’t get their way.
I’ve always said that Texas wouldn’t be a bad place, if it weren’t full of Texans.

Now everyone knows why Nebraska fled.

Why doesn’t Texas just go independent like ND? Or just create a Texas only conference with:
    Texas Tech
    Texas A&M
