Buckeye legacy Carter leaves Ohio State

Dogged by academic issues that prevented him from, among other things, playing in the Rose Bowl, wide receiver Duron Carter has decided to withdraw from Ohio State, is reporting.

Carter, the son of OSU legend Cris Carter, enrolled at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College last week, his father confirmed to the website.

Last season as a freshman, Carter caught 13 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown.  In addition to the Rose Bowl, grades kept the receiver out of spring practice.

If Carter can right his academic ship, he could return to Ohio State in 2011.  He would then have three years of eligibility remaining.

Why don’t Chris Carter talk about that on ESPN? “My son could not live up to the 1.5 GPA standards at OSU so he transferred. Now where my drink at!”

When you get 15 credits for football, how dumb must one be to flunk out of da OSU?

His father was a walk-on at OSU. Too bad he doesn’t have his father’s work ethic. I hope he grows up soon and starts to study. He showed a lot of potential when he was on the field.

Hopefully being at a no name, no where school will wake this kid up to the situation he is blowing. You do actually need to attend class, study, and do the work…
Trojan – no kidding, at least he wasn’t participating in gun fire as well.

This is a great wake up tool for him. His skills were not anything compared to his father at that level anyway.

He’s been a turd since high school at Aquinas. His father bought him out of trouble so many times where any other student there would have been turned into the police.

where did u get that his dad was a walk on at osu? He was a three time all state wide receiver and one of the few receivers Earle Bruce ever gave a scholarship too. I remember the day he signed his LOI and if you are a walk on you don’t sign LOI’s. I think you might be thinking about Terry Glenn another great OSU receiver who WAS a walk on.
