FSU launches Ponder-for-Heisman website

A week ago, Florida State sent out a cryptic email which seemed to intimate that some type of campaign promoting Christian Ponder for the Heisman FSU CP7.jpgToday’s July 7 and, wouldn’t ya know it, the school has indeed launched a Heisman campaign for the the first time in the program’s history.

In a press release issued by FSU, it was announced that a website promoting the senior quarterback has been created and is called CP7 for Heisman.  It can be accessed by clicking on THIS LINK.

The website features Ponder’s stats prominently displayed, a media gallery, something called “CP7′s playlist” and a clock counting down to the season-opening kickoff.

The website is well done, but Ponder’s chances at a Heisman will come down to one thing: how well Ponder performs on the field in conjunction with his team’s success in the W/L column.

I hope there aren’t any comments regarding his career stats versus the likelihood that he wins the award.

This matters little-FSU plays Oklahoma, Florida, Miami & North Carolina—all Top 20 teams and these 4 games will be nationally televised and that is what makes or breaks a heisman candidate. Stats are for losers—how you perform in big games against quality opponents is how elite players should be measured. Let’s hope we see lots of top notch players performing at a high level on the field all season long.
