Another starting Jayhawk lineman goes down with an injury

This has not been a good month for the beefier members of the Kansas football program.

Earlier in July, starting offensive lineman Brad Thorson went down with a broken foot. While Thorson is expected to return for the start of the 2010 regular season, if not the beginning of summer camp, the same can’t be said for one of his line mates.

According to the Lawrence Journal-World, starting lineman Jeff Spikes suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon and will miss the entire 2010 season.

Spikes, who suffered the injury in, as the Journal-World describes it, a non-contact, non-football accident, has started 23 games during his time in Lawrence.

The paper reports that Spikes will likely apply for a medical hardship, which if granted would leave the junior with two years of eligibility remaining.
