That Masoli-to-Hawaii rumor? Forget about it

Earlier today, we noted a report from a Honolulu television station which stated that former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli is interested in continuing his collegiate football career at the University of Hawaii.

Apparently, that interest isn’t being -- and won’t be -- reciprocated by the school.

The Honolulu Star Advertiser confirms Masoli’s interest, writing that the quarterback had been in contact with the school. However, sources have told the Star Advertiser that a mutual decision had been reached by school officials and Masoli would not be joining the Warriors.

There was no reason given by the paper for the decision to not pursue Masoli, although it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to realize that his recent legal issues played a role in the non-move on Hawaii’s part.

As for Masoli’s next move? Who knows. He reportedly visited Louisiana Tech last month, so that would seemingly be an option.

It seems, though, that the window is rapidly closing on Masoli realistically being able to find a collegiate home at the Div. 1-A level for the 2010 season.
