Hurricanes dismiss DE Steven Wesley

Unfortunately for Miami, they have (voluntarily) lost some experienced depth this afternoon.  Fortunately for the Hurricanes, they lost it at arguably the deepest position on their roster.

Citing a source close to the situation, the Miami Herald is reporting that defensive end Steven Wesley has been dismissed from the football program.  No specific reason was given for the senior’s dismissal, and a source would not confirm or deny that it was related to academics.

Wesley started six games in 2009 and played in a total of eleven.  During his career with the Hurricanes, Wesley played in a total of 33 games.

While Allen Bailey and Adewale Ojomo will enter summer camp as the starters, Wesley was expected to once again be a part of their line rotation.

I dunno gatorfan1. I can think of a dozen players I’d dismiss before Steven Wesley. Guy was good in the DE rotation, even starting a few games last season. I can even think of a couple guys who are very likely to transfer at the end of fall camp if they don’t get on the depth chart. They don’t really need a force out.

They didn’t need to dismiss Wesley in order to open up a scholorship for Henderson. Something else has happened that most likely won’t get out. Shannon has tight lips about these things.

Hopefully Dyron Dye will see the field this year… losing wesley only helps matters

Must have been academics. Its hard to keep a lid on anything that could have been involving an infraction with the law.
