Kyle Parker’s $1.4 million richer, still Clemson’s starting QB

For $3 million -- reportedly -- the Colorado Rockies could’ve had Kyle Parker as a baseball-only athlete.

Failing that, the MLB organization got Clemson’s starting quarterback for less than half that. On the hope that he ditches football after the 2010 season.

According to both the Anderson Independent Mail and The State, Parker has agreed to terms on a contract with the Rockies that will pay the redshirt sophomore a signing bonus of $1.4 million.

The contract signed by Parker will reportedly protect the Rockies should he be injured during the course of his amateur day job.

So, at least for the 2010 season, Clemson fan can rest easy knowing that a freshman All-American will be under center as the Tigers attempt to defend their Atlantic division title.

After the final whistle blows on the ’10 season? Tajh Boyd, you’re wanted front and under center.
