Michigan suffers potentially huge blow to secondary as CB Woolfolk is injured

When it comes to units where Michigan can ill afford any additional attrition, the secondary is far and away at the top of that list.

Unfortunately for the Wolverines, that could very well be the case.

While the details are scant right now, it appears that cornerback Troy Woolfolk suffered a fairly significant injury during practice Tuesday afternoon. Rumors are running rampant that Woolfolk suffered a severe ankle injury, but head coach Rich Rodriguez would only confirm that the senior had “a lower body injury during practice this afternoon and was transported to U-M Hospital with our team physician. We can’t comment further due to medical privacy rights.”

Late last week, Michigan lost some depth in the defensive backfield when Justin Turner was granted his release from the program.

The Wolverines can absorb Turner’s loss; it will be next to impossible to replace Woolfolk if he’s lost for a significant period of time.
