‘Canes continue talks on Yankee Stadium game

Back in July, Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw confirmed that there had been conversations with his counterpart at Miami about playing a future game at new Yankee Stadium.

Earlier Wednesday, Miami AD Kirby Hocutt confirmed that conversations with the Bronx ballpark are ongoing.

While it’s uncertain whether the talks still involve the Owls, Hocutt tweeted this morning that he "[m]et with the New York Yankee organization last night about possible UM football game in Yankee Stadium in 2013.” No further details were revealed by Hocutt.

With five home and five road games scheduled for ’13 -- including non-conference games at home against Florida and on the road against USF -- the Hurricanes have two open dates for that season.

Games involving Notre Dame, Colorado, Syracuse, Rutgers, Air Force and Army have all either been signed or are in the works for Yankee Stadium. The home of the Yankees will also play host this year to the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Coincidentally, the last game held in old/new Yankee Stadium -- until Notre Dame and Army square off Nov. 20 this year -- involved Miami. In the 1962 Gotham Bowl, Nebraska narrowly edged the Hurricanes 36-34 on Dec. 30.
