The Big Ten announced Wednesday night exactly how their 12 schools will be split into two six-team divisions in 2011. They will look as follows:
• Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota.
• Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.
The Big Ten has officially spoken, and now you can as well. Go ahead and vote. It doesn’t hurt. Much.
My take is they put all the elite academic schools in Northwestern’s division.
And put all the academically inept schools in Ohio States’s division.
In fact, it’s inarguable.
Even if they did it geographically, it wasn’t going to change the balance. Unless Michigan falls off the planet, it’s basically going to be 4 powers vs 3 in each division.
Great idea, more money, more interest and great games for the Conference. Only “tweak” I would make would be to switch Wiscousin and Northwestern for logistics purposes but it is a great idea and naturally follows the expansion and the trend in other conferences. Could these conference champions end up in playoff scenario? Oh, yeah!
JaggedMark…
That’s funny! I’ll go along with three of the academically elite in the NW group. You figure who they are…
Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota
Same take on this group too…
Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.
Thanks for the laugh!!
Notice how the first 3 or 4 mentioned in each group are the usual perennial powers? Is that a slap to the face or what?
So the goal is to have OSU v M every year?
OSU v PSU wouldnt be interesting ? Money Talks and is all come down to how sometimes you think you have true love and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a godd*mn magic show ready to double team your girlfriend.
Who’s with me ?
