ROTFLMAO: Ole Miss falls to Div. 1-AA Jacksonville State

As indicated in the headline, Ole Miss suffered a tough, tough double-overtime loss to Div. 1-AA Jacksonville State this afternoon, falling 49-48 in Oxford.

In lieu of actually tossing out a few pithy words in some sort of effort to truly describe this loss, I’ll just post a video of my reaction to the heartbreaking, gut-wrenching upset instead.

Sometimes when it comes to karma, she helps ye reap what ye sow in spectacular fashion.

    Wait, how is this an upset? Jax State is the ranked 17th in the nation! Ole Miss is not ranked at all! How can that be an up-….
    Oh, they’re ranked 17th in the FCS, not FBS?
    Really?
    Um…..nevermind.

    The eyes of the true freshman quarterback from Jacksonville State before that touchdown throw were SO BIG.
    He looked so nervous on that 4th-and-15 touchdown toss. Just awesome. My roommate and I were jumping around.

    Jax State was down 31-10 @ halftime?!?!?!? The headline of the story says it all. Congrats to Jax State for an awesome effort. To see an SEC team lose like this makes my day.

    Allthough these things happen from time to time, that’s a really good way to punch a ticket out of town in the SEC. Those hillbillys will be calling for his head in 2 weeks.

    I’ll be seeing a gaggle of SEC fans at church in the morning who went to Mississippi State. I’m sure they’ll be delighted.
    By the way … did someone move Jacksonville State or is it still in Alabama? Last I checked, Alabama was still in the South.
    Hmmm … Southern school beats Southern school.
    What are you Yankee boys so excited about?

    I am not surprised there are so few SEC supporters defending their conference here. I am reminded of JFK’s thoughts on the Bay of Pigs… “Victory has a thousand fathers but defeat is an orphan”. Still the greatest evidence of the SEC’s dominance during BCS era are the comments above. The haters abound. Great success engenders such acrimony.
    This is speculation, but Mr. Taylor’s comment regarding karma is likely more inspired by the confluence of events involving Jack Crowe and Houston Nutt rather than simply seeing the SEC receive its comeuppance. You really cannot make this stuff up. Hats off to Jacksonville State on what I am sure will be a victory long remembered.

    Hmm, I just presumed the karma reference had to do with getting Masoli (aka the thief) on their team? I’m a SEC fan yet I had to stifle myself from laughing too- don’t want the karma to come back on my team.

    The reason I’m relishing in the fact of the Ole Miss loss is not that I’m an SEC hater itself (I’m not a fan, by any means, but I’ll give the conference its due), I’m more an SEC fan hater. All, or most, one ever hears/reads about is how tough this conference is, and every week is an elimination game, and this is the reason why their teams (for the most part) can set up patsy non-conference opponents. Well, the hired patsy here (Jacksonville State) took down a big, bad SEC team. Where’s the justification for the cupcakes, now? Where are the SEC defenders now (nice Bay of Pigs reference, btw)? This conference is like any other conference in the nation, not all teams are dominant, and the ones who aren’t dominant are just as bad as any other conferences’ bottom dwellers.
    For full disclosure, a Fighting Irish fan here in the heart of Nittany Lion country. Only national title I’ve seen, i was 4 1/2, and I’m cool with that.

    Ahh, the headline in the Oxford paper this morn:
    “Jacksonville State busts Nutt”
    STFU, Steelers Rule. You are REALLY embarassing us non-retarded hibilly Steeler fans. And by the way, the tens of thousands of Steeler/Buckeye fans here in Ohio wish you Penn State losers would quit ducking Pitt and losing 2/3 of your Big Ten games vs Ohio State before you talk shit.
    You have 2 months and 8 days until you get your asses kicked in Columbus, so go ahead and run your yapper. Deep down inside, you know what’s up.

    last time I checked the SEC won 4 straight national titles. so ole miss losing all of a sudden means the SEC is junk? get real

  22. pricecube says: Sep 5, 2010 1:40 PM

    @Pottsville
    I am a rarefied variety of SEC fan. While attending high school in East Tennessee I became a Vol fan mostly due to my affection for the many fine people I met in that region, however the only SEC school I considered attending was Vanderbilt. As a TCU alumnus and rabid horned frog living in SEC country, I am very aware of how off-putting the bravado of this conference can be. You can imagine how much respect my frogs get around here. Unfortunately every team and conference has its share of fans who the rest us would like to excommunicate, some schools more than others (I am reminded of an Ole Miss game during which a cameraman received a concussion from a flying bottle of Jack Daniels while hundreds of confederate battle flags flew around the stadium, yet the vast majority of Ole Miss fans I have met are wonderful people).
    Good luck to your Irish this season.

    @HandsofSweed …
    Thank you!!! You know my deep love for the Steelers, but as a Crimson Tide fan, Steelers Rule is hard to take–mostly because his comments aren’t terribly … well thought out.
    @pricecube & Pottsville …
    Gentlemen, college football is filled with people who take pride to an obnoxious level. It’s obnoxious to:
    *fly Confederate flags in 2010 (Ole Miss/SEC)
    *stereotype Southerners as ignorant and stupid (Big 10, Pac 10 fans)
    *refer to your school as THE Ohio State University (Big 10)
    *field a paid pro team to compete in amateur contests (USC/Pac 10)
    *allow two schools to dominate revenues and decision-making for all (Big 12)
    *take pride in winning championships w/a team of arrogant thugs (Miami/ACC)
    *have a history that shows you’ve received more than your share of favoritism in polling (Notre Dame/nonconference)
    Yes, SEC fans take pride in winning multiple championships and in their schools’ fierce interconference rivalries. However, it doesn’t bother me that Ole Miss lost to Jacksonville St. I only wish it had been Auburn.

    You should stick with pro football, because you’re obviously too stupid to understand college football. I’m assuming you probably didn’t get into college. Nice spelling (conference) and grammar (lose, not loss).
    You need to log off of Mom’s computer and get ready for work – those toilets aren’t going to clean themselves.

    deb, im saddened that your “obnoxious” list is incorrect. i should have realized that your SEC kool-ade made you not know that THE ohio state university is actually THE ohio state university. it is in the school seal. so before you go spouting your southern idiocies, lets learn the truth.

  27. Deb says: Sep 6, 2010 7:37 PM

    @buckeyeboy …
    Thank you for making my point–and then some.
    It is obnoxious when people screech that Southerners are idiots while simultaneously failing to punctuate their posts.
    Yes, I’m aware that THE Ohio State University is an officially sanctioned name. The fact that the school promotes a ridiculous display of arrogance and egotism by incorporating it into the school seal doesn’t make it any less obnoxious. In fact, it’s more obnoxious.
    I went to THE University of Missouri. Others posting here went to THE University of Florida and THE University of Southern California and THE University of Texas and THE University of Indiana and THE University of Michigan. We just don’t all run around making THE biggest asses of ourselves about it … and that’s THE truth.
    Now excuse me, I must exit THE Web site so I can finish THE dinner.

    YES!!!!!! This was a beauty and Masoli better get ready cause he will be scrambling for his life when they line up across from BAMA’s D-line!
    @ Deb:
    Yes hun Jacksonville State is still in BAMA about 50 miles north of Birmingham!!
    Congrats to JacKsonville State!!!

    woah woah woah deb, i believe you should check your facts. the word “the” is not in the official name of missouri, nor is it in florida, southern california, or indiana. THE fact remains that you are an uninformed southerner. You can also take the time now to explain how my punctuation is incorrect. Maybe if you paid attention at the University of Missouri (notice the “the” instead of “The”), you would realize that your obnoxious posting is THE reason people are sick of you.

    Obviously, sarcasm is lost on you (I guess you’re an uninformed northerner). There’s a reason why she put THE in capital letters – to show how silly and obnoxious it is to actually put “The” in your school seal. So, she was actually correct, it is obnoxious to refer to your school like that – I guess all those beatings from SEC schools has given you pigskin envy.
    Do you Buckeyes really think people outside of Ohio would think there’s another Ohio State? We know which school it is that is 0-for-9 in bowls against the SEC (including two against South Carolina – that’s impressive to be so inept).
    You sound like you’re proud that Ohio State is so insecure that they actually had to use “The Ohio State University”. Everyone else is laughing at you, not with you – except for Michigan, they can’t laugh at anybody these days.

  31. buckeyeboy says: Sep 8, 2010 3:02 PM

    lol this is what makes college football great, excellent points by those up north, while those in the south continue their rambling on the SEC. Well actually, just SEC idiots lol you never hear about texas or florida state fans being jackasses, just the girls from the SEC who are afraid to play in the north….and please deb and backlund, refute that lol

  32. MTGriz says: Sep 8, 2010 4:09 PM

    Actually, you can blame this on college gameday crew again. First Herb-least opened his mouth and App St slapped Michigan and now Fowler slapped North Dakota St and they whup up on Kansas and Jax St. gives one for good measure. These teams are still D-1, they just have 22 less schollys to work with but the starting talent is still pretty good. Love to see the big boys get put into their place

  33. MorningRain says: Sep 11, 2010 5:32 PM

    No team in the SEC would ever be afraid to play in the north. That’s just silly! SEC has no competition. And that, my friend, is just sad!
