It was good to be a Michigan Wolverine following Saturday’s impressive win over UConn. Of late, however, it’s not been good to be a member of the secondary.
Either through injury or attrition, the Wolverines have lost four players in the past few months expected to contribute in 2010. Today, that number jumped to five.
Both the Detroit News and AnnArbor.com are reporting that safety Vladimir Emilien has decided to transfer from the program. Oddly enough, the sophomore had played in the season-opening win.
“Vlad has decided to transfer and look for other opportunities,” head coach Rich Rodriguez said. “He’s a good young man. We wish him well.”
The Wolverines had already lost starting cornerback Troy Woolfolk for the season to a dislocated ankle and backup safety Jared Van Slyke to a broken collarbone. Defensive back Justin Turner was given a release from his scholarship and transferred to West Virginia in August; five-star recruit Demar Dorsey was released from his Letter of Intent in June after not being admitted to the school.
That’s too bad. The Michigan offensive is loaded. Any 4/5 star defensive recruits could come in and make a name for themselves. Make a difference.
Tough one.
They do have to be able to “read” i.e. Dorsey
Ouch – we’ll here’s where Coach Robinson will earn his money.
Looks like some shootouts are coming.
