So, the big boys don’t want to schedule Boise State, huh? Not. So. Fast, my friend.
In an interview with the Omaha World-Herald, Nebraska assistant athletic director Jeff Jamrog says the Huskers tried to schedule a series with the Broncos, but Boise countered with its best diva impersonation by demanding a whopping $1 million to play in Lincoln.
Nebraska’s response: Um … no.
According to the World-Herald, Nebraska tried feverishly to to put together a series with Boise that would include “either a two-for-one, home-and-home or one-way trip to Lincoln”, but Boise refused to budge on its lofty demands.
With the Broncos’ reputation of coming out winners in big games, it’s really no surprise that Nebraska would be unwilling to dish out seven digits just to potentially lose. It’s bad enough when you do it for a team you should have beaten (looking at you, Ole Miss and Kansas).
There has been no response from Boise State regarding the potential matchup.
Wait a minute …
I thought the big money-grabs were only something that lower-level teams did to go play the Division I big boys? Like Arkansas State and teams of that ilk.
And I thought Boise State considers itself one of the big boys?
Something doesn’t add up.
I seriously doubt Boise State would’ve demanded the cool million for a home-and-home, but I think it’d be appropriate for a home-away-home. It’s probably on the high side for one game in Lincoln, although Colorado’s getting something pretty hefty for adding a lesser draw vs. Ohio State.
Shouldn’t Boise get something out of the deal for playing a one and done or a two’fer? You cannot have it both ways. Either Boise is the luckiest team on earth or they are a legitimate force to be reckoned with. If Nebraska isn’t scared to play them why not offer a home and away deal like you would any other respectable OOC opponent. I think Boise would gladly take that deal. I also think they deserve the pot to be sweetened on a one and done. I would love to see better OOC scheduling on everyone’s part but unfortunately there is every incentive against it until we have some kind of playoff system.

hahahahahahahahaha
so all the folks on here that ripped nebraska for not playing boise st…….yes please sit down now and get off the bandwagon lol
Nebraska is looking for any excuse not to play an opponent that is too legit to quit. Either offer a home and home or pay the money for an unbalanced offer. The Huskers were always a bunch of cry babies, especially after other schools started using the roids and caught up o them “athletically”
But Nebraska will pay Western Kentucky $1M.

Boise State’s AD denies getting an offer….
Oh and Nebraska rebuffed Boise’s offer for a game IN Lincoln in 2011.
BTW, it should be noted that instead of taking Boise up on their offer, they scheduled an AWAY game against Wyoming, which plays in a stadium that’s the same size as Boise State.
Edgy,
Idiot.
Boise “anyone, anywhere, anytime….for the right price”
Losers. LOSERS!
Liars too.
Boise: “anyone, anytime, anywhere”.
Nebraska: “We’ll take that offer”
Boise: “…crickets”
Nebraska: “We can do 2-1 or you come here once…”
Boise: “$1 million dollars!!!”
Nebraska: “The standard rate is around 600K-700K for that.”
Boise: “$1 million dollars!!!!”
Nebraska: “So that whole anytime, anywhere, anyone line was crap?”
Boise: “..crickets..”
And people like Edgy try and EXCUSE blatantly passing on an offer from a REAL Big Boy. Stupid people. John Taylor doesn’t post funny video clips if it’s a could go either way argument. Nebraska clearly answered the challenge, Boise pussed out like the LOSERS they are.
I love how Boise plays Wyoming next. Good call Edgy. haha.
If Boise REALLY wanted to play ANYONE ANYTIME ANYWHERE, they wouldn’t put such a high price tag NO school would take.
If Nebraska is going to risk losing to Boise, they certainly are not scheduling Boise at the HEFTY cost of $1 dollars. I’d be pissed if they did, and demand the AD be fired for doing something so stupid.
Western Kentucky got paid 800K. Not $1 million dollars. 800k is HIGH. The price is rising, but Boise can’t claim to be BCS worthy, yet hold the same standards non-BCS teams demand. Those non-BCS teams price tags are climbing but BCS teams don’t demand prices like that from other BCS teams.
So Boise says “were BCS worthy” but conducts business like a NON-BCS team.
Cake and eat it too..?
Boise is a big boy right? They claim it. So why not counter with a 1-1, home team pays expenses but takes revenue from tickets. Like other BIG BOYS?!?!
Why? Stupid people like half the people posting here.

Funny how there are CREDIBLE reports to the contrary but YOU apparently refused to go to the links that I posted here because you want to believe everything bad about Boise State — HYPOCRITE.

You IDIOT, NEBRASKA plays Wyoming AT WYOMING. Was that too hard for you to understand? Jesus, you’re a moron.
Oh, BTW, Western Kentucky is CLOSER to Nebraska than Boise so YES, they should get more money for EXPENSES.
grandavenue says: blah blah blah my vag hurts..
VT fan eh?
The offer by Boise was in 2011 so their game against Wyoming this year has NOTHING to do with Nebraska. Did you even read the article that I posted that showed that after Nebraska rebuffed their offer for a single game that they were waiting to hear about specific dates for a 2 for 1 BUT NEBRASKA HADN’T SAID ANYTHING SPECIFIC? I suppose that you want to ignore all that for a single report that says what you determine is the truth while ignoring FOUR posts from me that say totally the opposite.

Maybe it’s because the assistant AD at Nebraska going on the record in a major newspaper has just a little more credibility than the ramblings of “edgy1957″ on an anonymous message board? That “single report” means quite a bit more than FOUR posts from you that say the opposite.
Where is this article that you posted? Is it the same place as the four links that you claimed to have posted, but don’t seem to be showing up on here?
Typing “Boise State’s AD denies getting an offer….” does not equal a link, or any kind of a CREDIBLE report. And you should have someone explain to you what HYPOCRITE means, because while you probably know it’s an insult, the way you’re using the word makes it clear you have no idea what it means.
the point is that boise st is making outlandish demands for something they do not deserve. Uof miami plays ohio state this week, does miami deserve $1 million….no, so why should boise state, who wants to be considered with the big boys, need any money. Edgy please don’t continue to cover for a team that will be good for another year or 2, then end up like Hawaii
nebraska obiviously doesn’t want this series to happen…. if they did, they wouldn’t hesitate giving boise the mill, because im sure they would at least double that amount in home game revenue???
The University of Idaho (UofI, not Boise St) is getting $800,000 to play Nebraska this year. UofI is getting $850,000 from Texas A&M in 2011, and $950,000 to play LSU in 2012.
On what planet does BSU (a Top5 team with the top Heisman candidate in 2011) warrant this line-
“Boise countered with its best diva impersonation by demanding a whopping $1 million to play in Lincoln. “
BSU is a huge draw and a steal at $1 million.
The Nebraska AD (Dr. Tom) is on record stating the 2011 one-and-done offer was pulled by Nebraska because the Nebraska 2011 schedule was already tough enough (Washington, Fresno State, & Wyoming). The AD is also on record Stating that they had offered a 2 for 1 deal instead, starting in 2015. For the record, Nebraska schedules in:
2015: @ Miami(FL) and S. Miss.
2016: Fresno State, Tennessee, and Wyoming
2017: Tennessee
(But somehow 2011 is tough enough?)
BSU has since signed a one-and-deal with Ole Miss for $900K for the date in question
Nebraska has yet to fill the date.
Nebraska was 4th on the Forbes Top 20 Most Valuable College Football Teams with a Profit of $49M in 2009. To suggest that Nebraska had to turn down BSU over a couple of hundred grand is ridiculous.
One last thing; Did you see the ratings from the VT game the other night? That could have been you next year. Oh well………
Hey grandavenue,
From Forbes:
“Donations required by Nebraska for season ticket holders to keep their seats totaled $15 million last season.”
You must not be a season ticket holder…………
For that kinda scratch I’d be a little ticked that I have to watch Western Kentucky instead of Boise State.
Not sayin,I’m just sayin.
Hey buckeyeboy
Miami and Ohio State are doing a home and home. Typically little or no money is exchanged.
Now Colorado is a different story, they will get $1.4 Million from Ohio State for 1 game.

Bullshit. Idaho State or Wyoming don’t deserve that kind of money but they also don’t have the national draw that Boise State has or did you miss the story about the big ratings they got against Virginia Tech? Nebraska vs Wyoming is on Fox Sports or ESPN3 while Nebraska vs Boise State is on ABC. Which one do you think will pull in the most TV money for Nebraska? Do you think that it’s worth the extra $200k when you’re probably drawing double that in extra TV revenue or is the prospect of losing to a team like BYU not worth the money?

Maybe it’s because the assistant AD at
*******
More credible? A major newspaper vs me? Buckwheat, you don’t know a damn thing about what you’re talking about. I posted 4 links to the boob and 3 were from news sources that were just as credible as the “Omaha” newspaper (A major newspaper for all but those that live in a MAJOR city).
You boob, the links were in a previous reply and I didn’t feel like posting all 4 links again since he wouldn’t read it the first time so why should I expect him to read it again.
Hung Like Greg Oden:
Look at it this way, either your AD is not being truthful or your AAD is not being truthful. They have both given completely different reasons for not playing BSU next year.
BTW, have you ask yourself why the AAD made these comments now (lets not get into commenting at all)? these talks took place a year ago, why now?
Could it be the 7,252,000 households that watched BSU/VT and the fact that he blew a chance for Nebraska to take part in that?
About to make a few of you happy. Because of a data project (related to CFB), I will be working like a banshee and – may – not have it finished until Sunday BUT don’t take that as gospel as I have been known to get things done in less than 5 hours when it was supposed to take 5 days.
Since it’s going to take me a few hours to set it up and I plan on watching the games tonight, I DEFINITELY won’t be looking in and answering today. Ta Ta. I know that a few of you will be dancing a jig in a few seconds when you get this.
Good for the spuds – grab some cash while they are on top. Hopefully somebody will pay them some big dollars so they can go back to Buddy’s Carpet Barn and get some non blue carpet that wasn’t on the clearance rack
So, uh, Edgyguy, where exactly are these 4 links you posted? I’m sure you’ll see (since you’re a smart and calm guy by the sound of it) that if you scroll through the comments, there are exactly 0 (zero) links posted in the comments. But yeah, go ahead with screaming at everyone. I’m sure you’re a pleasure to work with.
(I also particularly enjoyed a fan of a team from Idaho knocking Omaha – Metro population 750,00 – as “not a real city.”)
Rarely do I agree with the edgester, and I don’t know about these reports and articles and links he is refering to, but I must say this … are you Nebraska fans simply stupid? You can’t get something for nothing. Boise State would be out of its mind giving up an extra home game and not getting something back. That being said, the value is INVERSELY proportional to how good your team is, not directly as one person stated. I think $1 mil is a little excessive, especially to be demanding of a team that just recently returned to prominence. Hopefully they can work something out, because Nebraska Boise State is a game I’d watch.
The links are in a different message. If you search for them, you’ll find them. I feel no need to post them again because the guy they were intended for refuses to go look at them OR if he did, he refuses to believe what they say.
And you clowns call this a amateur sport ,you fault reggie bush for getting paid ,Bs asking for a million sounds reasonable to me ………………..amateur okay
So….where are the “stories” that contain “facts” to support the BSU claims?
….Bueller?…..
Get real! Nebraska has to shell out enough of it’s revinue to the Big TX in penalties so it can leave the conference. What’s the first to go in a tight budget? That’s right, the unnecessary high expenses.
Would have been fun but, see ya! Don’t let the door hit ya bitches on the way out.
If BSU was bigtime like they cry out to the world to be treated like. They would not need 1 million to accept an offer from one of the top programs in the country.
Listen up BSU, Nebraska is elite. They are one of the top ten football programs. They have the tradition, the credentials, the legacy, and the pedigree.
What does Boise State have to offer up?
If you want to be considered as a powerhouse accept what is offered, go play, prove yourselfs. But you are in no position to make monetary demands from the elite cause you are still an afterthought.
Nebraska will sell out it’s stadium even if they schedule Forest Oaks Community College so they do not need the money.
BSU Keep drinking your milk, excercise, and maybe….just maybe, one day you will grow up to be HALF the program Nebraska is.
