Starting WVU corner suspended following DUI

Early Sunday morning, West Virginia cornerback Brandon Hogan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Tuesday afternoon, the starter found out his punishment from Bill Stewart District Court.

At his weekly press conference, the Mountaineers head coach announced that Hogan has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.

“Brandon Hogan has been suspended indefinitely from the Mountaineer football team for breaking a team rule,’' Stewart said. “I and I alone will handle the discipline and the punishment I a fair, firm and strict manner.

“He will rejoin the Mountaineer team when I deem fit. ...

“There is a tremendous privilege and honor to play and coach for the Old Gold and Blue and, in my way of thinking, that privilege has to be earned. I’ve said this many times and again recently, not too long ago, but it’s my job to do more than teach just blocking and tackling. It’s my job to prepare young men for life.”

Hogan has started 24 games the past three seasons for the Mountaineers, including the first two games of 2010. Stewart listed redshirt freshman Brodrick Jenkins, sophomore Pat Miller and senior Brantwon Bowser as potential replacements in the starting lineup.
