All signs pointing to an Ingram return Saturday

Officially considered day-to-day, and with no concrete word yet from his head coach, Mark Ingram appears headed for his first appearance of the 2010 season this weekend against Duke.

Practicing for the second straight day since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery a couple of weeks ago, Ingram, at least to his teammates, seems ready to take the field Saturday for the non-conference road game.

It doesn’t look like he had any surgery, or that anything happened to him,” Ingram’s backup at running back, Trent Richardson, said.

“I’m very excited he’s come back. I (texted) him just last night, and said, ‘Glad to have you back, big bro.’ There’s nothing like having him in the backfield with me.”

Nick Saban said on Monday that whether Ingram plays or not -- and how much if he does -- this weekend will be determined by how much work the reigning Heisman winner received in during practice this week. Based on all of the growing praise coming out of practice, it would now seem like it would be a shock if Ingram didn’t get at least a handful of plays in the Blue Devils game.
