Prognosis on Marve? ‘Not really encouraging’

It was bad enough that Purdue was gashed at home by Toledo Saturday afternoon.

That loss, unfortunately, was compounded by a game-ending injury to starting quarterback Robert Marve. Whether it’s of the season-ending variety remains to be seen, although the signs are pointing to the Boilermakers receiving the opposite of positive news in the coming days.

Speaking before practice Sunday, head coach Danny Hope told reporters that the “early prognosis is not encouraging.”

Marve, who suffered the injury on a first-quarter sack, will undergo an MRI Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

Shortly after transferring from Miami to Purdue in May of 2009, Marve tore the ACL in his left knee. That’s the same knee he injured in the loss to the Rockets, and it’s feared that the MRI will reveal a similar injury.

Rob Henry will start at least this weekend’s game, and likely the balance of the season.
