Another QB change could be in the offing for BC

As expected, Chase Rettig started at quarterback for Boston College against Notre Dame Saturday in place of Dave Shinskie, who was benched in last weekend’s loss due to poor performance..

Things did not exactly go well for the true freshman in his first collegiate start. With Rettig under center, the Eagles fell behind 21-0 to the Irish, then Rettig went down with an ankle injury and did not return. The initial reports are that, even as the x-rays were negative, he could be sidelined for a week or two.

Rettig’s replacement, Marc Mike Marscovetra, threw for 197 yards in less than three quarters of play, but also tossed two interceptions and was sacked four times.

So, where will Frank Spaziani go from here at the position? Suffice to say, the BC head coach was in no mood to focus solely on the uncertainty at the position.

“I know we all want to talk about who the quarterback is and what the situation is,” Spaziani, described as looking a little frazzled, said, “but there are other problems that were not quarterback, OK? It’s been a while since we played some defense like that.”

Spaziani could also mention the utter lack of a running game as well as the Eagles ran for just five net yards on 23 carries in the 31-13 loss.
