Old about to become new again for BC at QB position

Dave Shinskie started ten games in 2009, then three in 2010 before being yanked at halftime of a shutout loss to Virginia Tech.  He was benched the following game as well in favor of true freshman Chase Rettig.

Rettig, unfortunately, sprained an ankle in the loss to Notre Dame and has all but been ruled out for Saturday’s game against North Carolina State.

So, enter Shinskie.  Or, to be technically, reenter the 26-year-old sophomore.

While head coach Frank Spaziani has yet to officially name a starter, the Boston Globe reports that it appears Shinskie will get the nod over Mike Marscovetra should Rettig be unable to go.  Both quarterbacks split time with the first-team offense during practice Thursday.

“Whoever we choose can win” was the only thing Spaziani would say about the quarterback position yesterday.
