Another Tar Heel forced out by NCAA probe

Certainly it doesn’t hurt nearly as much as some of the starters who have been held out for most of the 2010 season, but North Carolina will be down yet another player for the their ACC game against Clemson today.

According to a press release issued by the school, junior fullback Devon Ramsay will be held of the game with the Tigers due to information gathered this week as part of the on-going NCAA investigation into possible agent extra benefits and academic misconduct.

“It is unfortunate that we have to hold out an additional student-athlete, but as we have stated, we are still in the process of gathering information related to the investigation,” Director of Athletics Dick Baddour said in a statement. “Yesterday (Friday), we learned information that requires us to hold him out of competition.

“I caution against making judgments as it will take time to process Devon’s situation, just as it has for other student-athletes.”

This season, Ramsay has as many carries and rushing yards as I do.
