Meyer questions commitment of some of his Gators

For just the second time during the Urban Meyer era, the Florida Gators are forced to deal with back-to-back losses.

There are myriad reasons for the sudden sputtering, from player attrition to an offense that seemingly hasn’t a clue what it wants to be to injuries to simply being the victim of the Mad Hatter. Meyer, however, has a different explanation for some of what ails his club.

As he was dissecting the heartbreaking loss to LSU, Meyer said a lack of commitment from some of his players has put them in a position to have to crawl out of a conference hole created by the two-game losing streak.

“I told the team it was that far [inches from winning],” Meyer said. “Who in this room right now who is devastated could give that much more to find a way to win that game? Obviously there’s a bunch of guys who gave everything they had, but there’s still a bunch of guys that haven’t given everything yet. That’s kind of what we have to identity and address and get better.

”... We’ve got to find a way to get that.”

As frustrated as Meyer is, at least one of his players is equally exasperated over how the season has played out thus far.

“I don’t know [anybody] who likes this feeling,” offensive lineman Carl Johnson said. “If you like this feeling then you’re a born loser. I don’t like it so I already know I can’t do this week in and week out.”

The schedule doesn’t get much easier for the Gators as they attempt to turn the season around, however, as they face an improved Mississippi State team this weekend.
