Starting Michigan St. CB suspended for at least a game

Coming off one of the biggest wins in the last two decades, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio should be relishing the on-field victory and his team’s rise to No. 13 in the rankings.

Unfortunately, Dantonio’s attention has been diverted just a bit because of an off-field issue involving one of his more important players on the defensive side of the ball.

The coach announced Sunday night that starting cornerback Chris Rucker has been suspended for at least one game for violating unspecified team rules. When asked if the suspension will last longer than one game, Dantonio said “we’ll see.”

Rucker has started all six games this season after starting 11 games in 2009. All told, the senior has started 30 games in his MSU career.

Michigan State hosts Illinois this weekend.
