Buffs DB suspended following domestic violence arrest

Even with the 2010 regular season underway and halfway in the books, the spate of arrests that littered the offseason has continued almost unabated.

The latest player to find himself with a little bit of a legal issue is Colorado defensive back Josh Moten.

The redshirt freshman was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence. University police Cmdr. Tim McGraw told the Boulder Daily Camera that he guesses that’s just the cowboy in Moten the investigation remains open and there’s the possibility that the female involved in the incident could be charged as well.

McGraw said the physical altercation between Moten and the unidentified former girlfriend before 1 a.m. Tuesday was “real minor” and allegedly began when the girlfriend confronted Moten, asked for a pair of earrings she had given him and then slapped him.
Citing the police report, McGraw said Moten allegedly pushed his former girlfriend away and she later reported feeling pain to police, which forced them to arrest Moten.
“By virtue of them having a relationship in the past, that kicks in the domestic violence aspect to it,” McGraw said.

Moten sat out last season and has yet to play in any of the five games this year.
