KO'd: Mallett done for rest of game

If Arkansas’ going to make a comeback in the second half against the Tigers, they’re going to have to do it without their All-American candidate at quarterback.

Shortly before the start of the third quarter, head coach Bobby Petrino said Ryan Mallett has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not return.  Needless to say, his status for the Razorbacks’ next game is unknown.

Mallett apparently suffered the injury during the second quarter on a play where he was driven to the ground — very legally — by an Auburn defender following a pass.

Tyler Wilson replaced Mallett and threw a touchdown pass on the series after the starter appeared to suffer the injury.

Auburn currently leads 30-21 with just under 11 minutes left in the third.

Oh, and Cam Newton has 16 carries for 186 yards in just over two quarters of work.  Can you say Heisman frontrunner if this game holds form?

    Could you possibly ask for a better performance from Tyler Wilson?

    Talk about “home cookin!” I usually don’t bitch about calls, but this was too much! Great job done by the new kid though. Go Hogs!

    Yeah. Two TDs for Auburn that should have never been. It wasn’t even close. Go Terps! (Don’t Hate!)

    When I stepped out, it was a close game and I expected Arkansas to win. When I came back and saw the score … huh?? Crying shame about Mallett–especially if he has to miss another week. Saw a clip of the hit … okay, I’ll grudgingly concede it was legal. Heard the announcers talking about controversial TDs but haven’t seen them. The nice thing about this game not involving my team is that I don’t have to be gracious.
    This sucks.

    there were some bad calls, the worst being the td where the ball fell straight down a foot in front of the endzone. evidently no official at the game has ever watched an episode of csi or dexter and knows anything about trajectory b/c if they had passed the goal line it would have fallen horizontally not straight down like it did.
    but…we still got beat b/c the hogs are heart breakers, dream makers, love takers, don’t you mess around with them… (or something like that)
    our defense kinda blew but our special teams put them in many a precarious position too so i dunno what all to blame for this game- fate, my fanhood- but i know that cam newton IS auburn’s team.
    i hope ryan is okay very soon but tyler wilson came in and played one helluva game. good enough to keep us in the lead until the 4th quarter but then again the hogs would be undefeated if this game was broken into 3rds not quarters…

    @tryagain …
    Yeah, I’ve seen from some posts that people were impressed with Mallett’s backup. I had recorded the game and intended to pick up where I left off, but accidentally saw the final score, so I didn’t bother. Mallett’s got nice pro potential, which so few college QBs seem to have. Sorry this was decided on bad calls. The luck seems to be with Les Miles, so maybe the calls will go to LSU when they meet Auburn. Neither of my teams looked as strong as I’d have liked this weekend, but can’t complain about wins.
