Good grief: UNC’s Charles Brown KO’d by NCAA for rest of ’10

North Carolina’s long road of attrition continued Wednesday afternoon as the Tar Heels have announced that they’ve lost yet another player due to the NCAA’s investigation into the football program.

According to a press release, cornerback Charles Brown will miss the remainder of the season and will have one year of eligibility remaining. Unlike other releases, this one did not detail the specifics as to why Brown was ruled out, other than it’s known that he was involved in the probe.

With Brown’s eligibility settled, that leaves five Tar Heel players whose status is undetermined. One of the quintet, Kendric Burney, was expected to play this week after serving a six-game suspension for receiving impermissible benefits.

However, in the same release announcing Brown being sidelined for the rest of the year, the school announced that there are still unresolved issues regarding Burney’s eligibility and, as a result, he will not play against Miami this weekend.

What those unresolved issues are have not been specified.
