Gator DB on the receiving end of Urban’s boot

Or, as Chris Rainey would text, time to leave, *****.

For the second time in the last three months,  a highly-recruited Florida defensive back has left the football program, although this time it wasn’t of the player’s own volition.  According to head coach Urban Meyer, safety Jonathan Dowling has been dismissed from the Gators.  Of course, the reason given was the always ubiquitous “violation of unspecified team rules”.

A search of court records in Alachua and Manatee counties, the Orlando Sentinel writes, shows Dowling does not have a case more serious than a traffic violation.

Dowling was a four-star member of the Gators’ vaunted 2010 recruiting class and appeared in two games this season. had Dowling rated as the fifth-best safety in the country, although he will now apparently be taking his talents elsewhere.

Wonder how many members you will lose over this change? Took 20 min and perserverence to get back on here. You have to reregister and then it takes about 30 sec for each page change to load up…..not good for keeping people around.

Didn’t you get an email about this some time back? I got mine and did it right away rather than wait for the last minute.

@blitz: My apologies to both you and anyone else who may be reading this for the hassle. There will, obviously, be a little short-term hiccup, but this move will be a big, big plus in the longterm for CFT and our readers.

Actually, I had ZERO problems reregistering and then posting. And they show up right away! Bravo. :)

As for this, kudos for Meyer for doing something right. Which is more than I can say for Florida’s inept offense, given the talent they have recruited on that side of the ball.

It’s all good and working great this morning.
This will be an even better site even though it might ought to discriminate against some or one
    of the more obnoxious bloggers.
