Really hurt Locker: Huskies QB out at least one game

Banged up all season long, the injuries that Jake Locker has fought through have finally prevailed and will cost the Washington quarterback at least a game’s worth of action.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed Monday afternoon that Locker has a cracked rib that will prevent him from playing this weekend against No. 1 Oregon. Locker had been playing with what was described as a hairline fracture in the rib, but the pounding Locker took against Stanford turned it into a full-blown break according to Sarkisian.

“The (medical) staff agreed that it was okay for him to play and we made that decision, a decision that is really made routinely week to week to week not just for a quarterback but for every player on our team,’' Sarkisian said according to the Seattle Times. “In this case the staff has made the recommendation to hold him out and get him healthy. The goal is to have him healthy for our final three ball games.”

The Huskies hope that Locker, who’s believed to have initially suffered the injury against Oregon State Oct. 16, will be able to return for the final three games of the season after sitting out this next one, but that seems to be far from guaranteed.

Locker’s backup Keith Price will start against the Ducks, with Nick “Son of Joe” Montana moving into the No. 2 hole.
