Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez injured ... again

If Nebraska is going to pull out a tough road win against Texas A&M and secure themselves a spot in the Big 12 Title Game, they’ll need to do it without star quarterback Taylor Martinez.

Martinez, who has been brilliant at times this year, fell to the turf in obvious pain during the first quarter against the Aggies when an offensive lineman accidentally stepped on Martinez’s right ankle during a zone read play. It was the same ankle that had been giving Martinez problems throughout the past several weeks.

Sophomore Cody Green has been filling in at quarterback for Martinez and, barring any sort of miracle, it looks as though Martinez is done for the game. X-rays on the ankle came back negative.

UPDATED 10:11 p.m. ET: Martinez has returned in the early stages of the third quarter for Nebraska and could potentially play the rest of the game as the Huskers are currently knotted in a 3-3 tie with the Aggies.
