Taylor Martinez to be day-to-day ahead of Big 12 title game

Taylor Martinez

It appears Oklahoma’s not the only participant in the Big 12 title game that will have uncertainty swirling around a key piece of their offensive puzzle throughout the week.

Speaking on the Big 12 teleconference Monday, head coach Bo Pelini said that starting quarterback Taylor Martinez is officially listed as day-to-day.  The redshirt freshman is suffering from an ankle injury as well as a bad case of turf toe.

The injuries kept Martinez out of the division-clinching win over Colorado Saturday, allowing Cody Green to make his second start of the season.  The sophomore took full advantage of the opportunity, throwing two touchdowns and running for another in the win.

Perhaps based in large part on that performance, Pelini said that, even if Martinez is cleared to play and starts, both players could see time on the field.

“We’ll play the guy that we feel is going to give us the best chance to win the game, and it might be a combination of the two,” the coach said.

He should have transfered after Pelini brow beat him on national tv like that. There are lot of teams that need a good qb that wouldnt treat him like sh!t.

Yet none of them offered him a shot before.

Plenty of players get yelled at on the sidelines, plenty of players don’t call their dad from the locker room like a baby.

Taylor’s biggest problem is his immaturity. He knocks off the “Daddy save me!” BS and he’ll be fine.

Nebraska is the reason anyone knows his damn name.

There are only two unknowns regarding the OU vs. Nebraska game.
The OU margin of victory and whether or not the Pelini brothers can duplicate (or exceed) their award winning performance on stage at College Station.

What was the final of that OU/NU game?

    Oh yeah, 10-3 NU

Who really cares—neither team is all that good. By losing the conference championship game they could save themselves a real embarrassing ass whipping from Stanford.

Well, Bender, OU lost to NU last year but it wasn’t because NU was very good. 5 interceptions by our Freshman QB lost it. If you can remember, I think the Huskers made 7 firstdowns to 23 for OU. NU was fortunate to win with that offense. But, we Sooners swallowed it as that’s the way the game goes. Just don’t think it will happen again next weekend.
