Even Josh Groban’s having fun at RichRod’s expense

As you no doubt have heard by now, Rich Rodriguez put on quite the emotional performance during the Michigan football team’s end-of-the-year awards banquet.

Teary-eyed and choking up at times, RichRod basically stumped for his job on a night that was meant to honor the seniors and outstanding performers from the 2010 season, saying among other things that he’s “honored to be the head coach at the University of Michigan. I hope you realize I truly want to be a Michigan man.” Rodriguez also admitted publicly to finding solace in Josh Groban‘s “You Raise Me Up” during these rough days, then led a group of grown men and women, hand in hand, in some bizarro sing-a-long as the song blared over the ballroom’s speakers.

Some referred to the display as stirring. We preferred to refer to it as awkward. Still others eviscerated him, saying that “Rodriguez embarrassed himself and the program” and rhetorically asked for “one reason why this man should keep his job”.

As if that weren’t bad enough, the artist responsible for the song that brings tears to RichRod’s eyes has taken to Twitter to add further insult to emotional injury.

Josh Groban Tweet

No offense to Groban, but when Josh Groban is taking shots at your head football coach in any context whatsoever, things are bad. Really, really bad.
