Hey 1990tiger, you said: What is really funny about this is their insistence on keeping the conference name “Big 10″ when there are 12 teams in the conference. Does that mean that 2 of the teams don’t count or that the conference itself can’t count? ---
NO the other two teams just aren't BIG.

Now I understand why supporters of the Big X allways comment on the intellectual superiority of their schools/fans compared to the SEC. I only hope that we can get that same bunch of brilliant people to band together and rename the SEC and its divisions. We'll end up with the "SUPER 9" and the divisions will be the "@$$ Kickers" and the "Name Takers". Can't wait!!!

What, there's no dual-name trophy for the best Special Teams player of Slavic decent?

Lord, Nebraska isn't even in the Big Ten yet, and we're feeling nervous about how we explain all this!

Legends and Leaders divisions?.....OMG. It sounds like something a Junior Achievement group would come up with. The Huskers joined the Big Ten in part because of the superior wisdom and advanced thinking of the elite schools involved. So we get Legends and Leaders Divisions? What does that even mean? Bo was a Legend and Woody was a Leader? How about Okie and Dokie instead?

What the heck was wrong with "Alonzo Stagg Division" and "Fielding Yost Division"? Honor ancient coaches, avoid controvesy. You buy time for when the whole league has to go to divisions in all sports down the road.

Call the Championship Trophy the Paterno Trophy - he sure has earned it on and off the field.

Take the old logo and get rid of the "11" It was just fine.

Ted Kwalick didn’t play in the Big Ten. He may not even have played a game vs. a Big Ten team(not going to bother to research it). There wasn’t a Big Ten alumnus they could have chosen?

The awards are named for these guys for what they did in the Big 10, and should not be based on pro careers. Having said that I agree that there should have been a more logical choice. If the TE was to come from PSU I would say Kyle Brady. He played a major role on that PSU team that was robbed of a chance at a NC, and was a top 10 draft choice as a result of his play.

schmittsgay ...

Forget polls of biased fans who probably don't know a football from a brown hard-boiled egg.

Among other things, former All Pro Rod Woodson, who made the Pro Bowl at three different positions, is a first ballot Hall of Famer and was one of only five then-active NFL players to make the league's 75th anniversary team of the best players ever at their position (corner) in league history. Now if you want to talk Ronnie Lott, fine. He was another of the five active players to make the 75th anniversary team. But although they are all great, no one else on that list but "Night Train" Lane should even be mentioned in the same sentence. Deion Sanders was a great cover corner, but he couldn't hit anyone if you put a gun to his head. Woodson was a phenomenal all-around corner.

The best testimony to Woodson's greatness is that you can go to a post about him on PFT and find Steelers, Bengals (where he coached this off-season), and Ravens fans all agreeing on what a great player he was and what a terrific human being he is. You generally can't get fans of those three teams to agree the sky is blue.

What is really funny about this is their insistence on keeping the conference name "Big 10" when there are 12 teams in the conference. Does that mean that 2 of the teams don't count or that the conference itself can't count?

tomosbornesretirementcostjoepaatitle,

The G looks like a zero or a six, IMO. Either we in the Big 10 still can't count, or it's time to start the next round of conference realignment rumors. After all, we're not just "legends", we're "leaders" too.

Whatever that means.

But really folks, the only TRUE, LOGICAL, names for the divisions that reflect ACCURACY are:

Overrated
