Nesbitt all but ruled out of GaTech’s bowl game

Even as he had been holding out hope for a near-miraculous return, it appears very likely that Josh Nesbitt‘s Georgia Tech career has all but officially come to an end.

The senior quarterback suffered a broken forearm Nov. 4 in a loss to Virginia Tech, but maintained his optimistic approach that, after missing the final three games of the regular season, he would return for the Yellow Jackets’ postseason game. Even as late as this week, Nesbitt was telling reporters that he was hopeful of playing in the Independence Bowl against Air Force as long as it didn’t hurt the team.

Head coach Paul Johnson, however, was decidedly pessimistic Thursday regarding Nesbitt’s availability, saying that his return “is probably not going to happen” and “that’d be a real reach”.

Nesbitt met with his surgeon yesterday, and that meeting, the Macon Telegraph writes, helped him surmise that his quarterback likely would not play.

If, as it appears, Nesbitt’s time as a Yellow Jacket has come to an end, he will finish his career as the ACC’s all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback.
