Hazelton makes it official: WR’s leaving Bearcats for NFL

Vidal Hazelton had previously left the door slightly ajar for a possible return to Cincinnati by petitioning the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility.

Today, the wide receiver slammed the door shut on a return.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hazelton will not petition the NCAA for another year and will instead make himself available for the 2011 NFL draft. The wide receiver suffered a torn ACL during the Bearcats’ season opener and, despite his best efforts at what would’ve been a miraculous return, missed the rest of the year.

Hazelton had transferred to Cincinnati in 2009 from USC and sat out that season as well, meaning he’s played in just a single game the past two years.

The Enquirer also reports that Hazelton will train with Travelle Gaines of Athletes Performing in Los Angeles to prepare himself for the draft.
