Hazelton makes it official: WR’s leaving Bearcats for NFL

Vidal Hazelton

Vidal Hazelton had previously left the door slightly ajar for a possible return to Cincinnati by petitioning the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility.

Today, the wide receiver slammed the door shut on a return.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hazelton will not petition the NCAA for another year and will instead make himself available for the 2011 NFL draft.  The wide receiver suffered a torn ACL during the Bearcats’ season opener and, despite his best efforts at what would’ve been a miraculous return, missed the rest of the year.

Hazelton had transferred to Cincinnati in 2009 from USC and sat out that season as well, meaning he’s played in just a single game the past two years.

The Enquirer also reports that Hazelton will train with Travelle Gaines of Athletes Performing in Los Angeles to prepare himself for the draft.

You couldn’t get on the field at USC and now you think you’re ready for the NFL? You have already made the mistake of trading a degree from USC for one from Cincinnati. Don’t make another stupid mistake try to get your six year and stay in school. The only person besides your mom or dad who think you can play in the league is yourself.
