In the pros, we can always talk with some degree of certainty about next year. But in college, you never know because of all the personnel changes. Just hope both our teams come back strong in 2011

Geaux Tigers and Geaux Away, Miles….

Don’t get me wrong, I like Les. He’s colorful. The South needs colorful coaches. In fact, the only possible comfort I could take from losing a coach as colorful as Les Miles would be seeing LSU hire Mike Leach. What better place for an old pirate than on the Bayou?

The maize and blue blood stream is coursing and pulsing. Michigan is a storied program with it’s next great chapter about to be written, whether it’s by Miles or not.

so, umm, les miles is the sec? i didn’t realize he constituted the whole thing kinda like the wizard of oz i suppose. you are absolutely the most ignorant poster on any message board/blog i have ever encountered and that is saying a lot. were your parents siblings?

If UM wants him – take him. But stop with all the drama surrounding the UM coaching job. Just make a decision so life can go on. UM’s AD was a total idiot for waiting this long to fire the coach he had, and now to disrupt recruiting for some other school I think is totally unprofessional. If you want Miles – pack his bags and take him with you on the return trip back to Michigan. I’m sorry, but at this point, to leave LSU for UM, would be taking 3 or 4 steps down. But if that’s what he wants, more power to him – let’s just get on with it.

Besides, UM would have to teach him how to read a game clock ( LSU has given up on that, understandably ) and how to count how many seconds are on the play clock before sending in mass substitutions ( LSU is still working on that, fruitlessly ).

It isn’t exactly as you put it. Expectations were high but for a good reason. The fans were restless because of several factors. One involved the lack of progress in the development of Jordan Jefferson. Another involved the porous defense ( Bo Pelini left for Nebraska so he hired John Chavis). He was a very bad game-day coach and he has no clock management skills (See Ole Miss game) LSU was in the top 10 in recruiting classes for several years under his watch, yet he could not produce a Championship. After winning the National Championship in 2007 with Bo Pelini on Defense and with Saban’s troops, he follows it up with 5 losses in the next season, two were major blowouts to Georgia and Florida. All the major components of the NC team were there, and no team has “ever” lost 5 games the year after winning the NC. The play selection and style of offense is horrible. LSU typically had 20% fewer plays on offense than the opposition due to his style of calling plays. Crowton needs to be replaced as the OC but he refuses to budge. Les is a great man, and a gentleman, but he needs to be surrounded with coaches-in-waiting (Bo Pelini/Jimbo Fisher/Will Muschamp) to be successful in my opinion.

I understand why he would go, heck I was one of the ones hoping he would, but to do it in this fashion just plain sucks. It is sure to negatively impact recruiting.
