All-Big Ten corner returning to Hawkeyes

Finally, some good news on the player attrition front for Iowa.

After losing three of their most talented running backs at various points over the past two months, the Hawkeyes learned today that an All-Big Ten performer on the other side of the ball would be returning to Iowa City for another season.

As kids these days are wont to do, cornerback Shaun Prater took to social media websites this afternoon to announce that he would not be making himself available for the NFL draft, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports.

“Just finished discussing my future plans with family & coaches and HAWK NATION I think the best thing for me to do is come back for my senior season and play one more year in Kinnick Stadium.. Let’s go get that National Championship hawks!!” Prater wrote on his Facebook page.

Prater was named to the first-team All-Big Ten team following the 2010 season.

The Hawkeyes still aren’t out of the early entry woods quite yet, however. Safety Tyler Sash and wide receiver Marvin McNutt both submitted their paperwork to be evaluated by the NFL’s draft advisory committee, but have yet to make public decisions on their respective football futures.
