Unbelievably, it had been 11 long days since a Div. 1-A football player found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Of course, the key word there is “had” as the Anderson Independent Mail is reporting that a member of the Clemson football program was arrested over the weekend.

According to the paper, offensive tackle Brandon Thomas was arrested very early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct.  No details of what led to the arrest were available.

The school told the Independent Mail that they are aware of the arrest and will meet with Thomas when he returns to campus Wednesday for the start of spring semester classes.

Thomas was a four-star recruit according to coming out of high school, and was ranked as the No. 14 tackle in the country by the same website.  The sophomore-to-be is expected to challenge for a starting job starting in spring practice.

By the way, political correctness does not dictate that the photo used with this article about Brandon Thomas show Caucasian hands in cuffs. Brandon’s Africian-American, so stay true to the facts of what you’re trying to report and use a photo with black hands. Or, if you’re trying to be “sensitive”, then have no photo at all. But don’t drag journalism lower than it has already become.
