Alabama’s secondary got a huge boost for next season when defensive back Mark Barron decided to return for his senior season Saturday.
However, another member of Nick Saban‘s highly-regarded 2008 recruiting class is taking off in another direction. More specifically, fellow defensive back B.J. Scott has decided to follow through on his intentions and transfer to the University of South Alabama. Per NCAA rules, Scott will not have to sit out a year and will be able to contribute immediately to the Jaguars’ defense.
Scott, a redshirt sophomore, only appeared in 15 games in his 3 years with the Tide. He recorded six tackles and an interception as a DB after beginning college as a wide receiver.
and so the exodus begins in Nick’s annual get to 85/25
ah jealousy is such a wonderful thing. you people crack me up, if Saban was doing something illegal it wouldnt be happening. Bama isnt the only school out there exercising the 85/25. let me guess your a big ten grad who still cant accept the sec is far superior. BJ Scott has been public about his pending transfer for months. it would be nice for once if you people could give Saban some credit for being the genius that he is. ROLL TIDE 13x !!
@secx5
So your saying Saben is a genius for over-signing?? He’s not a genius he’s unethical!! This is college football not the NFL. Saben is forcing players to leave and you think he’s a genius….like I said this is college…we all know that NFL thing didn’t work out too well for your genius coach woodcock….btw not all SEC schools are doing this…Alabama your no better than Auburn.
Maybe he will finally get to play in that “Uno Package” that Saban promised him he would star in.
@secx5
You are correct, Saban isn’t doing something illegal. He it taking advantage of every possible option to kick kids to the curb if they don’t make the three deep. The lucky ones get to stay at Alabama on a medical scholarship because they see that they won’t be starters. Saban convinces them to quit.
The unlucky ones get to go to Podunk U, maybe with some of their credits transferring. Saban doesn’t give a shit about them.
Illegal? No. Unethical, immoral in cases, absolutely.
Where did I claim that Bama was the only SEC school that does this? Vandy probably doesn’t, but that’s probably about it.
BJ’s leaving has nothing to do with Saban. He wants to go somewhere that he can make an impact every game and he just won’t get that at BAMA..there is just too much good talent coming in. BEST OF LUCK TO HIM!!!
A lot of the talent that left USC before this season started were in the same position: they couldn’t move up the depth chart and in some cases, they were moving down behind incoming freshmen.
Saban isn’t the only one who does this (and the SEC isn’t alone, as well) so it’s hard to demonize him, unless you happen to be a fan of another SEC team, which most likely does it as well.
Saban’s definitely not the only one, or even close to it. That said, doesn’t he do it more than anyone else?
Roll Tide yall.
Ok, let’s be clear. Has Saban been penalized or any other coach in the NCAA for being “unethical” NOOOOOO. Then please take your pathetic wah wah “Nick Saban is an unethical monster” garbage somewhere else. He wins championships, he will win more championships while @ Bama and is the best coach in the nation. So please, unless the rules change and he breaks them, then go wine to someone else. Like i said, jealousy is a wonderful thing. ROLL TIDE, 13x!!
