Suspended UConn RB popped on pot charge

Monday, UConn sent out a press release announcing that freshman running back Lyle McCombs had been suspended indefinitely from the football team for a violation of team policies.

Today, we learn that one of UConn’s team policies is “don’t possess weed”.

According to the Associated Press, McCombs was arrested Sunday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police had found less than four ounces (piker) of marijuana in the back’s dorm room.

McCombs sent the AP an email apologizing for the arrest and promising “to do everything right to be reinstated.”

The 5-8, 180-pound McCombs, who did not play last season, was a two-star member of the Huskies’ 2010 recruiting class.
