Texas looking to Wisconsin again for o-line coach?

As Mack Brown looks to put the final touches on what has been a very new and, at times, tumultuous hiring process at Texas, a familiar name to fill in the offensive line position has popped up.

Bob Bostad has coached Wisconsin’s highly-touted offensive line and running game for the past 4 seasons under Bret Bielema and appears to be on Texas’ radar once again. Bostad’s name was tossed around as a potential replacement for former UT o-line coach Mac McWhorter when UW offensive coordinator Paul Chryst was a candidate at Texas for the same position. Ultimately, Chryst stayed at Wisconsin.

But with Auburn’s Jeff Grimes and Oklahoma State’s Joe Wickline turning down the chance to coach in Austin, Brown’s focus has again apparently shifted back north to Bostad. There are rumors that Bostad is supposed to fly to Austin for an interview, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Again, it’s unclear if the interest between Brown and Bostad is legit (and let’s face it, this wouldn’t be the first time a coach has been merely “rumored” to be in the running at Texas), but given the success of Wisconsin’s ground game this season combined with Texas’ struggles in the same department, re-visiting Madison may not be completely out of the picture for Brown.
