RichRod to hit TV recruiting trail on signing day

If you’re a fan of Michigan football, you may want to steer clear of a certain non-ESPN network on National Signing Day if you’d like to avoid any unseemly flashbacks to the Rich Rodriguez era.

It was announced Tuesday afternoon that the former Michigan coach will be a part of the CBS College Sports Network’s coverage of National Signing Day. Rodriguez will appear with former Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer and recruiting expert Tom Lemming on what amounts to seven full hours of live discussion on 17- and 18-year-old football players.

The Wolverines currently have the No. 36 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com, which may or may not come up during the course of Rodriguez’s in-studio stay..

During Rodriguez’s three years in Ann Arbor, his classes were ranked No. 20 (2010), No. 8 (2009) and No. 10 (2008), while the last three classes of the Lloyd Carr era were ranked No. 12 (2007), No. 13 (2006) and No. 6 (2005). We don’t know exactly what those numbers mean, other than Rodriguez left the Wolverines with a 15-22 overall record and a 6-18 mark in Big Ten play.
