Early Gator enrollee undergoes surgery, will miss spring practice

Mike Blakely

It was reported last week that Florida running back Mike Blakely would undergo surgery this week and would likely miss spring practice due to the recovery time involved.

And, wouldn’t you know it, that’s indeed the case.

A UF athletic official confirmed to the St. Petersburg Times that Blakely underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday.  As a result, and as expected, the back will not be available to participate in the spring sessions that are scheduled to begin March 16.

Blakely, one of seven early enrollees at the school, was given a four-star rating by, and is the No. 6 running back in the country in the 2011 class according to the recruiting service.

Since I have better things to do than scour every Gator-related website known to man, it wasn’t old news for me. Thanks, JT. Hope his recovery goes well. Will look forward to seeing him play in the fall.

    Go Gators!
