It was reported last week that Bret Bielema was in line to receive a raise following his third season with at least 10 wins during his five years at Wisconsin.
While we still don’t know exactly how much of a bump he’ll receive, we do know that the new deal has been officially approved.
Per a press release sent out by the school, the UW Athletic Board met Friday afternoon and approved the recommendations of the UW Department of Athletics, handing Bielema a contract extension. The fifth-year coach is now signed through Jan. 31, 2016.
Again, it’s still unclear how significant a raise Bielema will receive.
Since being named as the successor to Barry Alvarez following the 2005 season, Bielema has compiled an overall record of 49-16 and a 27-13 mark in Big Ten play. He led the Badgers to their first Rose Bowl appearance since 2000 following the 2010 season.
