Auburn, Florida State and Clemson have made some pretty big splashes so far on signing day, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s never count out Ohio State — the only team in the northern half of the U.S. who continues to recruit at an SEC level year in and year out.
And, today, Brutus got their big-splash signee with five-star linebacker Curtis Grant from Hermitage H.S. (VA).
Grant was also seriously considering Florida, Virginia and North Carolina, although Florida was noticeably absent from the often self-indulgent, hat-on-table finalist list.
But the highly regarded linebacker was actually the second of two “Grant” players to sign with the Buckeyes today. Doran Grant, a home-state defensive back, also committed.
Ohio State recruits at an Ohio State level, others follow them.
AWESOME!!! Welcome to the Buckeye Nation guys!!!
I have been laughing at the lack of any/minimal mention in the national news media of the Buckeye 2011 class. The Vest isn’t flashy like Lane and not newsworthy like anybody in the SEC – and yet, year after year after year, he continues to restock the Buckeye shelves with fantastic talent! Man I love the fact that he is our head coach!!!
I’m so sick and tired of hearing about the Big 10. That’s all they ever talk about. If this guy had gone to the SEC they would’ve said he’s just average.
Sounded silly and a bit whiny when dryzzzt23 said it, sounds silly when I say it…although I was not trying to keep a straight face.
The whole recruiting thing is subjective. These are kids, no one knows how they will mature and play at the next level….and yes we consider OSU at the next level.
for a minute, gatiger, i was perplexed thinking “but, we just … that guy … Big 10″
I guess that dryzzt23 won’t show up here to complain about the SEC’s overrated recruits.
Thankfully another blue chip line backer chooses the Buckeyes.
gatiger -how about reading a board focused on the SEC only if the national picture of college football isn’t your cup of tea?
