Former Rutgers QB Savage set to visit Arizona

Former Rutgers quarterback Tom Savage has announced he will visit the University of Arizona on Feb. 15 as he continues his search for a new football destination.

“As of right now, that’s my only visit,” Savage told TucsonCitizen.com. “I think I will visit another school soon.” Savage also said he spoke briefly with ‘Zona quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo.

Last week, Savage told the Citizen that he had interest in Arizona regardless of whether he was allowed to contact them or not. Upon his decision to transfer, Savage gave a list of 25 programs of interest to Greg Schiano, who in turn, approved only 17 before adding Florida and Miami to the list.

“I’ve looked into their [Arizona’s] quarterback situation and all that, and I know there will be competition wherever I go. I just need to go out there and see if I feel comfortable,” Savage said. “I don’t want to drag this process out. I want to know where I’m going and know what I have to do to prepare.”
