Almost two months after losing Dana Holgorsen to West Virginia, Oklahoma State has finally filled their hole at offensive coordinator.
And, they’ve done so with a coach who’s very much flown underneath the radar.
In an announcement made on the school’s official website, head coach Mike Gundy revealed that Todd Monken has been hired as the Cowboys’ coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The hiring is a homecoming of sorts as Monken was an assistant on Les Miles’ staff from 2002 through 2004.
“Todd is a really good fit for what we need,” Gundy said in a statement. “He’s been in the Big 12 and SEC and he’s coached at places that have won at a high level. He’s an experienced, intelligent coach who will be able to come in and help us pick up where we left off. We’re excited to have him join our staff.”
The past four seasons, Monken has been the wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was recently named the NFL club’s quarterbacks coach.
In addition to his previous stop in Stillwater, Monken has spent times on collegiate staffs at Louisiana Tech, Eastern Michigan and Notre Dame.
