Report: Terps offer Randy Shannon coordinator job

Earlier today, we wondered aloud why Randy Shannon, three months after being fired by Miami, was still unemployed. As luck would have it, Shannon may be unemployed no longer.

According to Jeff Barker of the Baltimore Sun, and citing a source with knowledge of the talks, Maryland has made an offer to Shannon to become their next defensive coordinator. From the report:

Shannon has indicated he wants the job, the source said. There was no signed agreement as of late Thursday afternoon, and Shannon had returned to Miami to take care of unspecified business.

Shannon would replace Don Brown, who abruptly left the Terps last week for the same job at UConn, Maryland head coach Randy Edsall‘s former school. Over the weekend, it was reported that Shannon was slated to interview for the job which, in all likelihood, he landed today.

In addition to Maryland, Shannon had also drawn interest from UCLA last month, but appeared to have faded from the conversation of late. Speaking of which, we have three words for Rick Neuheisel in regards to Shannon if this report is accurate and the ex-'Canes coach is indeed off the market:

You.

Blew.

It.
