Last week, starting safety Janzen Jackson left the Tennessee football program — and school entirely — to deal with personal issues.
Today, the Vols’ other starter at the position is facing charges. And a suspension.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Brent Brewer was arrested over the weekend on domestic assault charges. No details of what led to the arrest are available at this time.
As a result of the arrest, Brewer has been indefinitely suspended by head coach Derek Dooley.
“Without knowing all the facts, any domestic incident warrants a suspension from all team-related activities until a thorough investigation is concluded,” Dooley said in a statement. “We respect everyone’s right to the legal process, but also acknowledge a greater standard of conduct associated with the privilege of being a member of the Tennessee football team.”
The freshman became a starter midway through the 2010 season.
Pssh. Real Vols beat up cops.
Stay classy SEC! The only thing you see here is SEC players arrested!
GOOD RIDDANCE !!! get rid of all the thugs that Kiffin brought into the Vol family….I don’t want anyone to say “you won with his recruits” in the future….if anything, I wish we would cut ties with the AD Mike Hamilton as well !
Tennessee is a year or two away from contending anyway. Get rid of all the dead weight and g.ang.stas because you will need serious players, Dooley, to contend in the SEC and for the title. Players that think of their team before themselves.
