In the 24-plus hours since SI.com/CBS News released the results of an investigation into the number of college football players with criminal backgrounds, reports have surfaced that three college football players have been arrested. The latest to find himself on the wrong side of the law is a member of the Washington football program.
According to KIRO-TV, and later confirmed by the Seattle Times, Huskies running back Johri Fogerson was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana. The arrest apparently occurred following a police pursuit.
The school is aware of the arrest, and released a statement from head coach Steve Sarkisian.
“We are aware of an arrest of a member of the UW football team,” Sarkisian said. “We are still gathering information and, if and when any action is taken on our part, we will have further comment.”
Fogerson suffered a season-ending hip injury in 2010 that limited him to just one game. As a sophomore, he played in nine games in 2009.
