Top W. Michigan WR gets a sixth year from the NCAA

As a fifth-year senior in 2010, Jordan White set a couple of Western Michigan single-season receiving records en route to earning first-team All-MAC honors.

Now, courtesy of the unending benevolence of the NCAA, White will get another season to add to his already stout totals.

According to a release issued by the school, the NCAA has granted White a sixth season of eligibility. White missed the entire 2006 season, his freshman year, after injuring his knee four days into summer camp, then sat out the entire 2008 season due a knee injury as well.

“I am very happy to have another season in the Brown & Gold. I am thankful for this opportunity to continue my Bronco career,” White said in the release. “Our team has set goals and they include, among other things, a MAC Championship. We need to work hard to get there and I am happy be a part of that pursuit.”

“It is great to have Jordan back in 2011, not just because he is one of the best receivers in the MAC, but also because he provides our team with leadership and a work ethic that our younger team members can and should emulate,” WMU head coach Bill Cubit said.

The 6-0, 211-pounder finished the 2010 season with single-season record for receiving yards (1,378) and 100-yard games (7), and was second in the conference with 94 receptions. He also added a career-high 10 touchdowns.

White enters the 2011 season ranked fifth on the school’s all-time lists in receptions (166), sixth in receiving yards (2,276), ninth in TD receptions (15) and fourth in 100-yard receiving games (11).
